The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police have modified the earlier traffic plan for Wednesday due to heavy rainfall and shooting stones on NH-44.
According to an official statement available to The Chenab Times, Traffic Police said, “Earlier Traffic Plan/Advisory for 22-06-2022 issued by Traffic Police Hqrs J&K is modified as under:
Due to heavy rainfall on the whole NH-44 and shooting stones at Panthyal and other locations, approximately 3000 vehicles, both HMVs and LMVs, are stranded on the NHW. Today, on June 22, 2022, no fresh vehicles shall be allowed from either side, i.e., from Jammu (Jakheni, Udhampur) towards Srinagar and vice-versa. If weather permits, only stranded vehicles will be allowed to move to their destinations subject to traffic-worthy road conditions.
SSG Road Traffic Status
Vehicle movement on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road will be permitted from both sides, namely Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa, subject to fair weather and good road conditions.
LMVs will be released from Minamarg and Sonamarg at 0500 hrs. upto 1700 hrs. HMVs will be released from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 0700 hrs. upto 1130 hrs. and from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1300 hrs. upto 1800 hrs. No vehicles are permitted between 1800 and 0500 hrs.
Mughal Road Traffic Status
Due to a landslide, the road at Poshana has been blocked. Commuters are advised not to travel on Mughal Road without confirming the status of the road from TCU Jammu/Srinagar.
Traffic Advisory
People are advised to undertake journeys on NHW-44 only after confirming the status of the road from traffic control units as under: • Jammu (0191-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091) • Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091) • Ramban (9419993745) • At 10:20 a.m., PCR Kishtwar (9906154100) for Sinthan Road status.
