A cloudburst that occurred Friday night in the south Kashmir Himalayas near the revered cave sanctuary of Amarnath claimed at least ten lives and caused damage to 25 tents and three community kitchens, according to officials.
The cloudburst struck around 5.30 pm amid heavy rainfall, they said.
According to them, the flowing floods damaged three community kitchens where the pilgrims are provided food as well as 25 tents at the base camp outside the shrine.
The event claimed the lives of ten people even as police, army, and ITBP troops initiated a rescue effort, according to the officials.
