Raju Srivastava, a well-known actor and comedian, was cremated on Thursday in the nation’s capital in front of his loved ones. The 58-year-old comedian, who was one of the most well-known names in the comedy and cinema industries, passed away on Wednesday morning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences after spending 41 days in the hospital (AIIMS). He experienced a heart attack on August 10 while working out in a hotel gym in Delhi and was sent to AIIMS.
After being given to the family yesterday, Srivastava’s mortal remains were carried to his home in the South West Delhi locality of Dwarka. Around nine in the morning, an ambulance decorated with white flowers drove to the Nigambodh Ghat crematorium near Kashmere Gate for the burial, which also drew seasoned poet-humorists Surendra Sharma and Ashok Chakradhar.
Around 11 am, according to the comedian’s younger brother Dipoo, Srivastava’s son Ayushmaan performed the final rites in accordance with Hindu tradition. “Around nine in the morning, we departed from the Dwarka home for the funeral. We have family here from Kanpur and Lucknow,” he continued.
Numerous fans also showed up at the location to pay their final respects to the comic, including Sunil Pal and Ahsaan Qureshi, as well as Madhur Bhandarkar, Ram Shankar, and other members of the entertainment community. Dipoo remarked, “It was touching to see so many of his supporters and colleagues come here to honour Raju bhai. He added that the family has not yet decided on the location for the prayer gathering.
