Kishtwar Child Missing Case: Revealing the Unrevealed Identity of an Accused! Is it fair?

Any crime or unlawful activity that happens in a society, it is the duty of the whole administration to stop it and take further strict action against it. There is also a great role for society in stopping these unlawful activities. There, these rules are made so that the whole nation works in the right manner and there is justice for each and every one.

The police are one of the main essential bodies of any society whose efforts run a society peacefully and safely. It is the duty of the police to maintain law and order at local and state levels. If anyone tries to break these laws, the police will arrest them and prosecute them harshly. Even in heinous crimes such as rape and murder, the police play the most important role by arresting the culprits, putting them behind bars, and taking legal action. So the duty of the police is most important.

But what happens when police arrest an accused and reveal their identity in public? How will this action of the police affect the family of the accused? How will society treat the children of those accused? What will be the attitude of the whole society towards a person who has just completed his punishment and now wants to be a good member of society? Will society accept him/her even though he/she has completed their punishment? These are some questions that come to mind when police reveal the identity of an accused.

Kishtwar’s child theft incident

Today, an incident of kidnapping happened in the Kishtwar area where a lady kidnapped a child. Finally, Kishtwar police finally got success in solving the case in eight hours and arrested the lady who either stole or kidnapped that child. Here, the police did a great job and it is really appreciated. But after the case was solved, we saw how social media users shared the pics of the accused lady, and the lady went viral not only in her area but in the whole Jammu and Kashmir. Now here again, the above mentioned question arises again.

Now if the lady is found guilty, what will be the attitude of the whole society towards her and her whole family? There is a video footage going viral on social media where police are interrogating a lady in custody. But here the question arises whether, before completing the investigation, the people made the lady the culprit in their minds and made her viral. Maybe she could be the culprit, or maybe not, but there is a court who will decide this. But, even before the trial, she had gone viral on the internet. Now after this, what effects will we see on the family of this lady? Before proving her crime in court, she is now already a culprit in the eyes of the public because someone made her viral on social media and people are sharing it continuously.

Conclusion

There is no need to say if the police are doing their work properly or not. Yes, they are doing great work in controlling crimes, even at the local level, like arrests being made by police on drug-related issues, which nowadays are a threat to our society. But at least the police must add one more thing, and that’s not to reveal the identity of the accused, as this would have a major effect on their lives. There is a law who is going to decide whether they are involved in a crime or not. There is no need to reveal the identity of any accused.
