These rats are being trained to rescue earthquake survivors

Scientists train rats to find earthquake survivors while carrying small backpacks with built-in microphones so rescue teams can locate and talk to them as part of hastening the rescue for earthquakes, flooding, and hurricanes that cause massive damage to infrastructure and trap people inside collapsed buildings.

Research scientist Dr. Donna Kean, 33, from Glasgow, spent the past year working in Morogoro, Tanzania for non-profit organization APOPO on the project entitled ‘Hero Rats’, as per various media reports.

In order for rescue teams to connect with survivors during major earthquakes, the team is developing specialised backpacks with built-in microphones, camera equipment, and GPS trackers that can be mounted on rats.

In order to replicate a rescue operation after a natural disaster, scientists are currently sending them to fake rubble.

The rats will soon be sent to Turkey where they will have the chance to work in the field, with search and rescue team GAE agreeing to try the rat squad

Seven rats have been trained thus far, and it will only take the researchers two weeks to get them up to speed.

The rats will have the chance to work in the field in Turkey once they arrive there.

The GAE search and rescue team decides to bring the rat squad to justice because the nation is vulnerable to earthquakes.
