Police in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district said on Tuesday that a 25-year-old woman was allegedly brutally beaten by her boyfriend at a tea shop.
An official said that the event happened on Monday night at the victim’s tea shop in the district’s Magarlod town, news agency PTI reported.
According to Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Prashant Thakur, the accused allegedly used a stick to attack his girlfriend Reshami Sahu before fleeing the spot.
He said that Sahu worked at a tea shop close to the Magarlod Nagar Panchayat office while the accused lived in the Khisora village under the jurisdiction of the Magarlod police station.
According to the official, the villagers found the woman lying in a pool of blood with head injuries and called the police.
After being taken to a nearby community health centre, the woman died there, according to him.
The accused and victim had been in a relationship for four years. The official said that the couple had argued on the day of the event.
He added that the accused attacked the victim out of anger after suspecting his girlfriend of having an affair.
