Two-day 1st District Taekwondo Championship concludes in Kishtwar

The closing ceremony of the two-day 1st District Kishtwar Taekwondo Championships was a grand event held at the Al Hilal Educational Institute in Kishtwar. The championship was held under the motto of “My Youth My Pride” and was supervised by Danish Manzoor, an international taekwondo athlete and Fit India ambassador appointed as an observer by the J&K Taekwondo Association. The competition was organized by the District Kishtwar Taekwondo Association under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association.

The competition was open to all age divisions, including the youngest age division known as Pee Wee. The final day of the competition saw a spectacular display of combative skill from senior and junior athletes in both male and female categories. As per details available with The Chenab Times, more than 100 players participated in different weight categories, and 30 orphan athletes were sponsored by the J&K Taekwondo Association.

The championship was closed off with a demonstration of taekwondo fights by young boys and girls from different clubs. The Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony was Dr Devansh Yadav (DC Kishtwar), accompanied by Javid Iqbal (Chairman, Al Hilal EI) as Guest of Honor. He was received by Arslan Ahmad (Secretary, District Kishtwar Taekwondo Association). 

While speaking on the auspicious occasion, DC Kishtwar congratulated all the medalists and participants for taking part in the said championship and also ensured full support to the District Taekwondo Association for uplifting the Taekwondo sport in the district.

He and the other dignitaries distributed medals among all the medalists, and moments of honour were given to the coaches and referees as well. Special Guests on the occasion were Shri Shahnawaz Mir (Vice President DKTA), Mrs. Arjumand Nazir (Branch Head J&K Bank), and Mrs. Shafia Kousar (Govt Teacher).

As per press release, “All the gold medalists will represent District Kishtwar in the forthcoming J&K UT Championship.”
