Weapons issued to village defence guards in Rajouri’s village

Vikas Kundal, the deputy commissioner for Rajouri, went to the Baljaralan area on Saturday to check on the distribution of guns and ammunition to the Village Defence Guards (VDGs), which will help to increase security in the region.

The VDGs are receiving the weapons and ammunition from the police. To do this, a camp was arranged. The Deputy Commissioner spoke with the VDGs members and asked how familiar they were with the weapons, according to reports reaching The Chenab Times.

He also urged them to work for the area’s inhabitants’ safety and security. In order to assure that they are at ease handling the weapons, the VDGs appealed for their specialised training.

The Deputy Commissioner responded by assuring the VDGs that after the weapons have been distributed, village-level training programmes will be set up. Additionally, he gave his word that the necessary steps would be done to keep the area peaceful and calm.
