In a major eviction and demolition drive, the administration in Thathri-Doda retrieved 03 Kanal commercial land on the ring road alongside the Bus Stand Thathri by removing encroachments. The land, valued at 66 Lacs by the government and 04 Crores in the market, has been handed over to the Municipality for the construction of a parking area, an official told The Chenab Times. Additionally, an illegal under-construction column structure on prime land was also demolished.

State land alongside the National Highway was also razed to the ground and 12 Kanal of state land in Khasra No. 803 was retrieved from a lumberdar along the National Highway, as per The Chenab Times report. The land, valued at 84 Lacs by the government and 04 Crores in the market, resulted in the removal of the lumberdar from his services.
Furthermore, a multi-story illegal structure under construction was sealed and taken over by the government.
The eviction drive in Thathri-Doda sparked protests among locals and shopkeepers, who shut down their shops in protest. Despite the administration’s assurance that no poor would be affected, as instructed by LG Manoj Sinha, the protesters continued their peaceful protest and demanded that their concerns be addressed.
In response to the protest, the administration interacted with the protesters and assured them that their concerns would be heard. However, the shops remained closed in protest and the demonstration continued until their demands were met, according to local leaders leading the protest.
