An Indian national, Vijay Kumar Gaud, who had been missing in Turkey since the earthquake on February 6, has been found dead in the rubble of a hotel where he was staying. Gaud was on an official assignment for Oxy Plant India Pvt Ltd and was from Uttarakhand’s Pauri district. He was identified by a tattoo of the word “Om” on one of his hands. Gaud’s wife and son, who were hoping for positive news, were inconsolable as their worst fears were confirmed. Gaud’s body will first be flown to Istanbul and then to Delhi and it may take three days for his body to reach Kotdwar. The Ministry of External Affairs had said earlier this week that one Indian was missing and 10 others were stuck but safe following the earthquake.
