Hit by Chinese string, 17-yr-old girl receives 44 stitches on face

A 17-year-old girl in India suffered serious facial injuries after being hit by a synthetic kite string while riding pillion on a two-wheeler. The girl’s father, Umesh Malhotra, reported that the girl started screaming and he noticed a deep cut near her eyes. She was taken to a hospital where she received 44 stitches to repair the damage.

The incident has sparked concerns about the dangers posed by synthetic kite string, which has been banned by the government but continues to be sold and used. The victim’s father is calling for increased awareness and stricter enforcement of the ban, as well as action against shopkeepers who sell the dangerous thread to children.

“For me, it is very strange that someone’s pleasure may cost someone her life. I want to request all the residents of the city to sensitize their parents to the harms being caused by the plastic thread. At the same time I would like to request those in power to take action against the shopkeepers selling the killer thread to children,” as quoted by The Tribune, said the victim’s father.

This tragic incident highlights the need for greater awareness and enforcement of the dangers posed by synthetic kite strings. The government must take stronger measures to protect the public and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
