Armoured tractors deployed on Mohali-Chandigarh border to tackle activists demanding release of Bandi Singhs

On Monday, the Punjab Police deployed seven armored tractors on the Mohali-Chandigarh border in response to the recent protests by Bandi Singh release activists. The deployment was prompted by the violent events of February 8th, when protesters used tractors and horses to intimidate the police. The improvised bullet-proof tractors were requisitioned from the international border area districts of the state, where they had been deployed to counter terrorism.

DSP City-1 Harinder Singh Mann said the armored vehicles are specially designed to handle violent situations, and the need for such deployment was felt after the recent incidents. The bullet-proof tractors, each equipped with a red beacon, were stationed on the dividing road of Sectors 51-52 and Sectors 52-53.

Punjab Police officials stated that each border area district police is now equipped with five such vehicles, which were previously used to counter terrorist activities. This deployment is a clear demonstration of the Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state and protecting the safety of its citizens and police personnel.
