The crackdown on illegal mining in Doda district is in full swing as the authorities continue to take strict action against those involved in such illegal activities. Under the supervision of District Mineral Officer Doda Sunil Manhas and the directions of District Magistrate Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan, a team of officials seized three heavy vehicles for transportation of minerals illegally.
The seized vehicles include two tippers and one dumper, which were caught during a naka laid by the officials on the highway last night, according to statement issued to The Chenab Times. One of the vehicles seized has been identified as a habitual offender and has been challaned for the third time under the Mining Act.
DMO Doda has issued a warning to transporters involved in illegal mining, urging them to desist from such activities to avoid facing tough action under the Mining Act. He further informed that action against illegal mining shall be intensified, and anyone involved in such activities shall be booked under relevant sections of the law.
Illegal mining has been a persistent problem in Doda district, with several cases of illegal mining and transportation of minerals being reported in the past. The authorities have been taking strict action against those involved in such activities, and the recent seizure of three heavy vehicles is a part of the same effort.
