Locals from Siwli village in the Gandoh sub-division of Bhalessa have discovered stone sculptures believed to be thousands of years old. The sculptures were found 10 feet deep underground during an excavation for a water source. The paintings on the stones depict ancient art, tradition, and religious figures.
The locals have collected the sculptures and are now calling for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to investigate the find and establish the facts. The discovery has caused excitement among the people in the area, who are eager to learn more about the history and significance of the sculptures.
Upon receiving the news, Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan confirmed the discovery with SDM Gandoh Arun Kumar Badyal. DC Doda has taken up the matter with the Secretary to the Government Culture Department in the UT of J&K.
The Secretary Culture has assured DC Doda that appropriate action will be taken on the matter soon. It is not yet clear what steps will be taken, but many are hopeful that the ASI will conduct a thorough investigation and shed light on the significance of the sculptures.
