6.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Hindukush, Tremors Felt Across J&K and Delhi

A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit the Hindukush region in Afghanistan on Monday morning, causing tremors to be felt in parts of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and the national capital, Delhi.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake struck at 10:17 pm IST and had a depth of 156 kilometers. The epicenter of the quake was located in the Hindukush region, which is known for its frequent seismic activity.

People in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi felt the tremors, which lasted for about 50-60 seconds. Several buildings in the affected areas were evacuated as a precautionary measure. There have been no reports of casualties or damage to property as yet.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the earthquake was of a moderate intensity and that there is no need for panic. However, they have advised people to stay cautious and be prepared for any aftershocks that may occur.
