Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known worldwide as The Weeknd, has achieved yet another milestone in his impressive career. The Canadian singer-songwriter has become the first artist in Spotify’s history to reach 100 million monthly listeners, according to a tweet by the streaming giant on February 27, 2023.
This incredible feat has earned The Weeknd a place in the Guinness World Records, solidifying his status as a musical icon. The record-breaking achievement is largely due to his collaboration with Ariana Grande on the remix of “Die for You,” which went viral on TikTok in late 2021. Since then, the duo has released other successful songs such as “Love Me, Harder,” “Off the Table,” and the remix of “Save Your Tears.”
The Weeknd’s popularity has been on a steady rise since he burst onto the music scene in 2010. His unique sound, a fusion of R&B, pop, and hip-hop, has earned him a devoted fan base worldwide. He has won multiple Grammy Awards and has had numerous chart-topping hits, including “Blinding Lights,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Starboy.”
In addition to his musical success, The Weeknd has also ventured into acting and art. He recently landed his first starring role in a feature film alongside Jenna Ortega in “Wednesday.” His “After Hours Til Dawn” world tour is set to kick off in June 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal, and is expected to be one of the biggest tours of the year.
The Weeknd’s achievement on Spotify is a testament to his incredible talent and hard work. With no signs of slowing down, it’s safe to say that The Weeknd will continue to dominate the music scene and break new records in the years to come.
