The Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Chatroo has issued an order regarding the mandatory regulation of traffic on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road NH244, as per the order, a copy of which is available with The Chenab Times. The order, approved by the District Magistrate Kishtwar, will be effective from April 15, 2023, and will be enforced to ensure the safety of travellers.
The Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road NH244, which passes through the Sinthan Pass, will remain open for regulated traffic on fair weather days. The order states that only light motor vehicles will be allowed in the first instance, while the situation for other vehicles will be reviewed periodically.
Moreover, the cut-off timing for vehicles at the Parna Checkpost will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. After 1:00 PM, no vehicle will be allowed towards the Srinagar side, and the timing will be reviewed after one week. The in-charge of the Parna Checkpoint will provide daily local weather updates to the SHO PS Chatroo at 8 AM in the morning. No vehicle will be allowed if there is active precipitation or an adverse weather forecast. The situation will be monitored in real-time, and decisions will be made accordingly.
The NHIDCL will also provide regular updates on the condition of the road and weather in the upper reaches. The order aims to ensure the safety of travellers on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road NH244 during fair weather days.
