Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan “Forcefully” Taken into Custody Outside Islamabad High Court

Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was taken into custody by Pakistani authorities outside the Islamabad High Court.

In a tweet, the party said, “They have badly pushed injured Imran Khan. Pakistan’s people, this is the time to save your country. You won’t get any other opportunity.”

The news of Khan’s detention has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many of his supporters expressing concern over the move. The PTI has also released a statement condemning the detention and demanding his immediate release.

There are number reports and social media posts claiming that Khan was forcefully arrested, his lawyers, supporters were beaten.

In a video tweeted by Pakistani journalist Kamran Shahid, Rangers arrest Imran after breaking court premises, and the video creator shouts, “Rangers ne hamla Kardiya,” transliterated as Rangers have attacked.

Various others shared live visuals from the spot where Khan was being forcefully arrested by the rangers.

Reason of arrest

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief was taken into custody in connection with the Al Qadir Trust case, for which the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had summoned him multiple times.

The former prime minister was in court to renew his bail when the Rangers made the arrest on NAB’s request.
