Two Non-Locals Killed and Nine Injured in Awantipora Road Accident

A tragic road accident in the Barsoo area of Awantipora has claimed the lives of two non-local individuals, while nine others have sustained injuries. The incident occurred on Thursday near the Goripora bridge on the National Highway, when a tempo, registered under the number Jk06/3355 and traveling from Jammu to Srinagar, overturned.

According to an official from the scene, two individuals tragically lost their lives on the spot, while the injured victims were immediately transported to the PHC Awantipora for medical treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Lakshman Dumka, a resident of Jharkhand, and Suman Devi Chatterpure, a resident of Madhya Pradesh. As the bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the SDH Pampore, necessary procedures are being carried out accordingly.

The local police have registered a case pertaining to the accident and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.

Road accidents continue to be a serious concern in the region, causing loss of life and leaving many others injured.
