Truck Loaded with Steel Bars Meets Accident on Thathri-Gandoh National Highway, Rescue Operation Underway

In a tragic incident that unfolded early this morning, a truck carrying a load of steel bars met with an accident on the Thathri-Gandoh National Highway near Kahlan (Honda), approximately 4-5 kilometres from Thathri. The truck, en route from Jammu to Gandoh, was involved in the accident, with details of the individuals on board still unknown.

According to sources cited by The Chenab Times, the truck was reportedly being driven by Lal Hussain, son of Amanat Ali, a resident of the Rajpura area in the Samba district. Another person was also said to be present in the vehicle, although official confirmation of their identity is still awaited.

The mishap occurred at approximately 6:30 am, jolting the peaceful morning of the surrounding area. Upon hearing about the accident, local residents quickly responded to the scene, along with the Ababeel NGO, an organization known for its prompt emergency assistance. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the local police and Indian Army were swiftly mobilized, joining the rescue efforts.

Given the accident’s location, it falls within the jurisdiction of the Kishtwar district, as the Thathri-Gandoh National Highway is a bordering route connecting both Doda and Kishtwar districts. This vital thoroughfare witnesses a significant flow of traffic and plays a crucial role in connecting various regions.

Rescue operations are currently underway, as dedicated teams work diligently to extricate any individuals who may be trapped in the wreckage. The exact number of people involved in the accident and their conditions remain unknown at this time. However, the joint efforts of the rescue teams inspire hope that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected.

The truck involved in the accident bears the registration number JK221F0207. Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident, shedding light on any contributing factors or lapses that may have led to this unfortunate event.
