Notorious Bovine Smugglers Booked Under PSA by Kishtwar Police

In a significant development, the Kishtwar Police have detained two notorious bovine smugglers, Ishtiaq Ahmed and Atta Mohd, under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their repeated involvement in bovine smuggling cases. The District Magistrate of Kishtwar issued the orders for their detention, after which they were lodged in the District Jail Kishtwar.

Ishtiaq Ahmed, son of Mohd Rafiq and a resident of Pehalgam Sigdi Mughalmaidan, along with Atta Mohd, son of Nasra Reshi and a resident of Dellar Chatroo, have a long history of engaging in bovine smuggling activities. They were involved in multiple cases of bovine smuggling registered at various Police Stations in the district. Both individuals were closely monitored by law enforcement agencies, and the Kishtwar Police, with the assistance of technical and human intelligence, successfully apprehended them.

The duo’s criminal activities extended beyond Kishtwar District, as they were also found to be engaged in bovine smuggling in neighboring districts. The detention of Ishtiaq Ahmed and Atta Mohd under the PSA serves as a strong deterrent to other criminals and bovine smugglers in the area, sending a clear message that such unlawful activities will not be tolerated.

Under Operation KAMDHENU, Kishtwar Police initiated a special drive against bovine smugglers. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 15 cases related to bovine smuggling have been registered, resulting in the arrest of 24 individuals. Additionally, two vehicles used for the transportation of bovine animals were seized, and 75 bovine animals were successfully rescued during these operations.

SSP Kishtwar, Mr. Khalil Poswal-JKPS, issued a stern warning to all bovine smugglers, urging them to refrain from engaging in such illegal activities. He emphasized that anyone found involved in bovine smuggling would be dealt with firmly. SSP Kishtwar also sought the cooperation of the general public in eradicating bovine smuggling, which is not only a serious issue but also has the potential to disrupt law and order in the district.

The efforts of Kishtwar Police under Operation KAMDHENU reflect their commitment to combatting bovine smuggling and maintaining the safety and security of the district. With continued vigilance and support from the public, it is hoped that the illegal practice of bovine smuggling can be eradicated completely from Kishtwar District.
