Sister Dies In Bid to Rescue Brother From Drowning in Sumbal Bandipora

A devastating incident unfolded in the Sumbal area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir, as a sister tragically lost her life while attempting to rescue her brother from drowning. The ill-fated incident occurred early this morning when Nazakat Ali (21) drowned while bathing in a river in Shadipora.

Upon learning of the distressing situation, numerous onlookers and local residents swiftly gathered, pooling their efforts to rescue the young man from the perilous waters. In a courageous and desperate act, his sister, identified as Nuzhat Afzal (18), fearlessly jumped into the river in a valiant attempt to save her beloved brother.

While Nazakat Ali was successfully pulled from the river, the situation took a devastating turn for Nuzhat. Despite the best efforts of those present, the brave young woman tragically lost consciousness and ultimately her life during the rescue operation.

The rescued young man was immediately rushed to JVC Hospital in critical condition, where he is currently receiving urgent medical attention. Medical professionals at the hospital are working tirelessly to stabilize his condition and provide him with the necessary care.

Authorities have confirmed the incident, with a police official assuring that they are actively gathering all pertinent details surrounding the tragic event. The locals has been left shaken by the unfortunate loss of Nuzhat Afzal, who displayed immense courage and selflessness in her final moments.
