In a devastating road accident that occurred in Rajouri’s Thanamandi area during the early hours of Wednesday, four passengers lost their lives while eight others sustained critical injuries. The incident took place when an Eeco vehicle carrying twelve passengers veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on the Thanamnadi-Bhangai road at approximately 2:30 am.
According to reports, the accident resulted in three immediate fatalities, while one more individual succumbed to injuries upon arrival at the sub-district hospital in Thanamandi. The deceased have been identified as Shamim Akhtar (55), wife of Munir Hussain; Rubina Kouser (35), wife of Pervez Ahmed; Zarina Begum (38), wife of Muhammad Azam; and Muhammad Younis (38), son of Muhammad Sadiq. All four victims were residents of Bhangai.
The eight critically injured passengers are currently undergoing medical treatment at the GMC Associated Hospital in Rajouri. The injured individuals have been identified as Shaheen Begum (40), wife of Muhammad Sadiq; Zaitoon Begum (35), wife of Farooq; Shaheen Begum (45), wife of Hakam Din; Begum Jaan (50), wife of Fazal Hussain; Fatima Begum (60), wife of Muhammad Makhna; Suriya Begum (35), wife of Muhammad Qasim; Kulsoom Begum (40), wife of Barkat Hussain; and Muhammad Qasim (60), son of Ghulam Hussain. All the injured victims also reside in Bhangai.
Providing an update on the injured patients, Dr. Mehmood H Bajar, the Medical Superintendent at GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri, stated that the eight individuals are in critical condition and are currently receiving intensive medical care.
