The devastating accident that occurred on the Thathri-Gandoh National Highway near the Bamoo area has claimed yet another life, as Muzaffar Ahmed, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at GMC Doda. With Muzaffar’s passing, the death toll from the mishap has now tragically risen to three. Meanwhile, Danish Ayaz, another survivor of the accident, is currently en route to GMC Doda; however, his condition remains precarious, according to sources from The Chenab Times.
The accident, which involved an Alto 800 car with registration number JK06 6559 lost control and plunged into a approximately 500-feet deep gorge. Promptly after the incident, the Gandoh police and local residents initiated a rescue operation to help the victims and investigate the cause of the unfortunate event.
In response to the accident, the Gandoh police have registered a case (FIR No. 66/2023) under sections 279, 337, and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident and any potential contributing factors.
Among those who lost their lives in the accident was Bilal Ahmed, a 30-year-old son of Taj Din from the village of Dharevery Gandoh.
Muzaffar Ahmed, son of Abdul Karim Khan from the village of Sanwara Bhalessa, was one of the injured victims in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, Muzaffar could not overcome his injuries and tragically passed away at GMC Doda.
Insha Ayaz, a 12-year-old girl and daughter of Mohd Ayaz from the village of Dhosa, was another victim of the accident who unfortunately succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the sub-district hospital in Gandoh.
In response to the tragic accident on the Thathri-Gandoh National Highway, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, took to social media to express his condolences and support for the affected families. In a heartfelt tweet, he conveyed his deepest sympathies to those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate incident. He also assured the community that the authorities are making every effort to provide the best possible medical care to the injured survivors. Deputy Commissioner Mahajan further requested prayers for the swift recovery of the injured, underscoring the importance of solidarity and compassion during this difficult time for the community.
