In a significant development, Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, presided over a crucial meeting involving Tehsildars and National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) authorities to evaluate the advancement of work and deliberate on obstacles hindering the construction of NH244 within the district.
The focal point of the meeting was the Chenani-Vailoo National Highway 244, a pivotal route that connects Chennai to Sudhmahadev and Anantnag. This corridor is poised to emerge as an alternative pathway for road transport, potentially reducing travel expenses and cutting down the distance by approximately 93 kilometers. Deputy Commissioner Mahajan underscored the significance of adhering to project timelines and urged concerned stakeholders to proactively address impediments affecting the prestigious Alternate NH244.
Encouragingly, National Highway-244 is making commendable progress, with engineering teams putting forth their utmost efforts to ensure timely completion. The deliberations encompassed a comprehensive assessment of bottlenecks and challenges that have been curbing the project’s headway. Deputy Commissioner Mahajan issued directives to the involved officers to treat these issues with the utmost seriousness and to devise effective solutions to surmount these hurdles.
A detailed exchange transpired between Deputy Commissioner Mahajan and NHIDCL authorities, centering on the ongoing work status and future project blueprints, as per communique sent to The Chenab Times. An overview of specific segments revealed noteworthy advancements:
- Goha-Khaleni Pkg-I: This section is currently under construction and is anticipated to reach completion by March 2024. As of now, 61% of the physical work has been concluded, accompanied by 59% financial progress.
- Goa Khaleni Pkg-II: Progress here stands at an encouraging 71%, with a projected completion date set for January 2024.
- Km 83rd Tunnel: This tunnel, spanning 2.41 kilometers, has witnessed 59% completion and is on track to be finalized by November 2023.
- Khellani-Chatroo Pkg I: Covering a length of 20.25 kilometers, this stretch is notably 82.55% complete and is earmarked for completion in October 2023.
- Khellani-Chatroo Pkg II: This segment, spanning 14.84 kilometers, has reached a physical completion of 35.27%, with an envisaged conclusion date of March 2024.
During the proceedings, deliberations also encompassed pivotal issues such as the rehabilitation of Pul Doda residents, ongoing court stay cases, requisition for additional land acquisition, efficient debris disposal, and strategic plantation along the new highway. Deputy Commissioner Mahajan passionately emphasized the paramount importance of harmonious coordination and unwavering dedication to surmount any obstacles that could potentially hinder the seamless progress of this monumental project.
