In a determined effort to neutralize militants who had claimed the lives of four security personnel since earlier this week, Indian security forces have intensified their anti-terror operation in the forested hills of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, now running its third day, is employing advanced tactics, including drone surveillance and heavy artillery fire.
The militants, who had taken positions in the hilly terrain, were responsible for the tragic loss of Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, and a soldier during a fierce encounter in Gadole, Kokernag area, on Wednesday morning.
To track the movements and pinpoint the exact location of the militants, security forces have deployed drones, which have become invaluable tools in modern anti-terrorism operations. The use of drone surveillance enables the forces to gather real-time intelligence and execute targeted actions while minimizing risk to personnel.
In a bid to flush out the ultras from their hideouts, the security forces have resorted to firing mortar shells on the rugged terrain believed to be harboring the militants.
Throughout the operation, security forces have maintained a strict cordon around the area, preventing any potential escape routes for the militants.
