The 4th District Doda Taekwondo Championship opened its doors to an enthusiastic crowd at the Town Hall in Doda on October 1, 2023. This two-day event, conducted under the theme of ‘My Youth My Pride,’ was organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Doda, with the support of the J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) and the backing of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
The inaugural day featured intense displays of combative skills from both Cadets and Sub-Junior Athletes, encompassing both male and female divisions. Over 150 athletes hailing from various schools and clubs within District Doda participated, showcasing their prowess in different weight categories.
The opening ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries. Mohd Ashraf Wani, the District Information Officer (DIO) of Doda, presided as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Shri Kheem Chand, the Principal of JNV School Doda, and Dr. Altaf Malik, a Surgeon at GMC Doda, were honored as Guests of Honour. The event also welcomed special guests, including Mr. Brinder Singh Manhas, Mr. Deepak Pawaria, Seema Yadav, and Irfan Naik.
During his address, Chief Guest Mohd Ashraf Wani extended his congratulations to all the medalists and participants, acknowledging their dedication to the championships.
The leadership of the championship was entrusted to Junaid Ali Khan, President of TADD. The Technical Team, known for its fairplay decisions, was led by Shri Atul Pangotra. The panel of referees included Shanaz Parveen, Sidharth Sharma, Rakesh Singh, Rajinder Singh, and Mehak Anthal.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement that all medalists from the 4th District Doda Taekwondo Championship would have the honor of representing District Doda in the upcoming 26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships in 2023.
