Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal, was honored with the prestigious ‘Excellence in Investigation’ award by Home Minister Amit Shah during a ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday. The award presentation took place at the Anti-terrorism Conference at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.
Rakesh Balwal, an officer of the 2012 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the Manipur cadre, is widely recognized for his exceptional investigative skills and unwavering dedication to his duties. Throughout his career, he has held various crucial positions and has played a pivotal role in solving numerous high-profile cases, including the tragic Pulwama militant attack, which resulted in the loss of more than 40 CRPF personnel.
Notably, Balwal has been prematurely repatriated to his home cadre of Manipur amidst the ongoing situation in the state. This decision reflects the government’s acknowledgment of his exemplary service and the need to utilize his expertise in his home cadre.
