Congress-National Conference Alliance Secures Majority in Kargil LAHDC Polls, BJP Claims One Seat As Counting Continues

Ladakh: In a closely watched electoral battle, the Congress-National Conference alliance has emerged victorious in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) polls, securing a commanding lead by winning eight out of the nine contested seats. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has managed to clinch one seat in the fiercely contested elections.

As per reports, the Congress has registered victories in several key constituencies, including Tai Suru, Pashkum, Ranbirpora, Choskore, and Chitkan. Simultaneously, the National Conference, a partner in the alliance, secured wins in the Bhimbat and Padum seats.

On the other hand, the BJP emerged victorious in the Stakchay constituency. The fierce competition and the remaining vote counting have kept the results of the other seats pending at the time of this report.

The LAHDC elections in Kargil have witnessed intense campaigning and political maneuvering in recent weeks, with multiple parties vying for supremacy in the region. The contest has attracted significant attention as it represents the aspirations and preferences of the local population in this strategic part of Ladakh.

While the final outcome for the remaining seats remains to be determined, the Congress-National Conference alliance has established its dominance, signaling a significant political development in the region. The results will play a pivotal role in shaping the future governance and policy direction for Ladakh’s autonomous hill development council.
