Quadruplet Birth in Kupwara: Three infants among 4 dies

Kupwara – In a heart-wrenching incident, three out of the four infants born to a woman on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, have tragically lost their lives. The devastating news was conveyed by a close relative of the mother, who cited the cause of death as being underweight.

The informant, speaking to the news agency GNS, revealed that the medical professionals attending to the newborns determined that their fragile health and low birth weight led to their untimely demise. Among the infants who didn’t survive were two boys and a girl, while the fourth, a baby boy, has been urgently referred to JVC Hospital Bemina in Srinagar for further medical care.

This distressing incident unfolded in the remote region of Keran, situated approximately 8000 feet above sea level. The lack of proper medical facilities and road connectivity in this area exacerbated the already dire circumstances. The relative pleaded for the district administration to address these issues urgently, with the aim of improving healthcare access and road infrastructure to alleviate the suffering of the local populace.

The mother, hailing from Keran Kupwara, had initially been admitted to the PHC Keran with labor pains. However, due to the complexity of the case, she was swiftly referred to the SDH Kupwara around midnight. It was at the SDH Kupwara where she gave birth to quadruplets, a remarkable and unusual occurrence, which included three baby boys and a baby girl.
