In a stellar performance at the 66th National Shooting Championship in New Delhi, Olympian shooter Chain Singh, a proud Chenabi sportsman from the Chenab region’s Bhalessa area, clinched three Gold medals. His standout moment came in the 50m rifle prone event, where he set a new national record with an impressive score of 629.9 points.
Chain Singh, who honed his shooting skills in the Indian Army back in 2007, has consistently demonstrated excellence in the field, as per information available with The Chenab Times.
Chain Singh’s journey to success includes a Bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, where he showcased his prowess in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event. Despite tough competition from Chinese shooters Cao Yifei and Zhu Qinan, Singh secured the third position with a score of 441.7 points.
Continuing his winning streak, Singh claimed an individual Gold medal at the 7th Asian Airgun Championship in Kuwait in 2014, scoring 206 points. He outperformed competitors Qin Cong and Liu Zhiguo of China.
The 2015 National Games in Kerala, India, witnessed Singh’s exceptional performance, earning him three individual medals (2 Gold and 1 Bronze) along with three team Gold medals. Notably, he set a national record in the 50-metre 3-position event with an outstanding score of 1181/1200 points.
The 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, India, in 2016, saw Singh securing an impressive six Gold medals, solidifying his spot for the Rio Olympics.
Representing India at the 2016 Rio Olympics in rifle shooting (50m 3-position event), Singh displayed his skill and determination, finishing 23rd.
Singh’s dominance extends to the Indian National Shooting Championship, where he has won more than 50 gold medals, and he has clinched 12 gold medals in international tournaments. His overall medal count in national and international tournaments, including gold, silver, and bronze, is 103.
At the XXI Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, in 2018, Singh represented India, securing the 4th position in the 50m rifle prone men event and the 5th position in the 50m rifle 3-position event.

Adding to his international accolades, Singh won a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup (Grand Prix) in Munich, Germany, in 2018, with a score of 627.9 points in the 50-meter rifle prone event.
Chain Singh’s recent triumph at the 66th National Shooting Championship not only underscores his dedication and skill but also cements his status as a top-tier athlete in the world of shooting.
