In a devastating incident early this morning, two lives were tragically lost and one individual sustained injuries after a load carrier veered off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge in Tantna, Gundna area of Doda district.
The victims have been identified as Mir Ali, son of Noor Mai, resident of Kunthal Joura Halaran, and Zafarullah, son of Talib Hussain, hailing from Dandi Bhala. Both individuals lost their lives on the spot, sources told The Chenab Times. A third person, Aqib Gulzar, son of Khushi Mohd, a resident of Pranoo Puldoda and the driver of the ill-fated load carrier, survived the accident but sustained injuries.
The tragic incident occurred at approximately 4:30 am near Gagal Nallah in Tantna, sources told The Chenab Times. The load carrier involved in the accident, bearing registration number JK06B-1533, reportedly met with the mishap, resulting in a grievous outcome. The accident also claimed the lives of some animals onboard the carrier.
Locals were promptly alerted to the scene, and efforts were made to rescue and provide medical assistance to the survivors. The injured driver, Aqib Gulzar, was rushed to GMC Doda for treatment.
The exact circumstances leading to the accident are yet to be determined, and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause.
