Jammu Police swiftly apprehended an individual following a viral video depicting the assault of a driver in the Narwal area. The incident sparked outrage on social media platforms, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
According to a police statement, the assault occurred earlier in Narwal. The statement, issued by police officials, clarifies that the involved parties were “a driver” and “an employee of a transport company.” An official police report, FIR No. 18, has been filed under sections 343 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to assault and criminal intimidation, respectively.
“Jammu Police has taken cognisance of the incident,” the statement confirms. “The accused has been apprehended, and further investigation is ongoing.”
Authorities have refrained from disclosing the identities of the individuals involved or revealing further details regarding the alleged motive behind the assault.
The viral video, verified by The Chenab Times, shows the driver being subjected to physical and verbal abuse. Its circulation sparked widespread online condemnation and calls for immediate action against the perpetrator.
