Vicenarian From Bhalessa Killed in Landslide Near Kiru Project in Kishtwar District

In a tragic turn of events, a JCB met with a fatal accident at the link road in Sazzar Padder of Kishtwar district, claiming the life of its operator, Irfan Ahmed, son of Abdul Majeed Butt, a resident of Bharti Gandoh (Bhalessa) area of Doda district in Chenab Valley. The incident occurred today at approximately 6 pm, leaving Irfan dead on the spot.

The Police of PS Atholi were quick to respond to the scene, with further details awaited as investigations continue.

Eyewitnesses recount the tragic accident, highlighting the immediate and fatal nature of the incident. A relative and a worker from Kiru project confirmed this incident to The Chenab Times. The loss of Irfan Ahmed, a skilled operator and valued member of the community, has left a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

The Kiru project, situated amidst the scenic landscapes of the hilly region, has been a focal point for development and accidents in past. In July last year, three people including two labourers were killed when a vehicle they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near the same Kiru project.

As authorities work to determine the cause of the accident, questions arise regarding safety protocols and the need for stricter enforcement to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The Chenab Times urges authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of workers in hazardous work environments.
