A fierce encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday night, a senior official reported, as per news agency PTI. The altercation began when terrorists opened fire on a joint checkpost manned by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and the local police in the Chatergala area in Bhaderwah.
Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain confirmed that the security personnel responded promptly to the attack, and a gunfight is currently underway. Details on casualties or injuries are yet to be disclosed.
This incident coincides with a large-scale security operation aimed at flushing out terrorists who had attacked a village near the International Border (IB) in Kathua district earlier on Tuesday evening. During the Kathua operation, a civilian was injured, and a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed by security forces, according to police reports.
The recent surge in terrorist activities in the Jammu region has heightened tensions, particularly following a tragic attack two days ago. In that incident, terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra. The attack caused the bus to veer off the road and plummet into a deep gorge, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 41 others.
Security forces continue to conduct operations across the region to neutralize terrorist threats and ensure the safety of civilians. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
