Another encounter erupted between militants and security forces at Draman Kota Top in the Gandoh sub-division and Thathri sub division of the Doda district on Wednesday, resulting in an injury to a Special Operations Group (SOG) officer.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team comprising Police and the Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles (4RR) initiated a cordon and search operation in the area. As the team advanced towards the suspected location, militants hiding in the vicinity opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
During the initial exchange of gunfire, an SOG officer namely Constable Fareed Ahmad sustained a bullet wound. The injured officer was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The operation is ongoing, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon around the area to neutralize the remaining threats. Reinforcements have been called in to assist in the operation.
Authorities have heightened security in the region and urged civilians to remain indoors to ensure their safety. Further updates on the situation are awaited as the operation progresses.
