In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the District Police of Kishtwar successfully intercepted a Himachal Pradesh-based vehicle transporting illicit liquor. The operation, carried out in the jurisdiction of Police Station Chatroo, led to the seizure of 102 bottles of illegal beer, each containing 650 ml, and the arrest of the driver.
Based on a reliable tip-off, a police team from PS Chatroo, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Vikram Singh, established a checkpoint in Chatroo. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) DAR Sajad Khan. During the checkpoint inspection, a Mahindra Bolero Pickup Maxx, bearing the registration number HP24E/6786, was stopped and searched. The search revealed the concealed illicit liquor.
The driver, identified as Firoj Khan, son of Ilam Deen from Jhanjwani, Lehri Sarail, Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered under FIR No. 36/2024 at Police Station Chatroo, and further investigations are underway.
In a press statement issued to The Chenab Times, the police emphasized their commitment to combating illegal trafficking of contraband and maintaining law and order. They have issued a stern warning to individuals involved in such illegal activities, emphasizing that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found trafficking or selling contraband.
