One militant has been confirmed killed in the ongoing encounter in the Sinoo area of Gandoh, Doda District. This official confirmation comes from a tweet by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain (@anandjainips), who is currently on the spot along with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Doda and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda. Details regarding the operation are still awaited.
Earlier today, The Chenab Times reported that two militants had been killed based on prominent sources and news reports. However, it was noted that official confirmation was pending at the time. The latest tweet from ADGP Anand Jain has provided the first official confirmation of the casualty figures.
The encounter in Sinoo began earlier today and is part of a series of violent incidents in the region. On June 12, an encounter in Kota Top, Gandoh, led to the injury of Constable Fareed Ahmed (973/D) of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Gandoh. That day also witnessed the death of a CRPF jawan and injuries to six security personnel in encounters in the Kathua and Doda districts. The violence escalated further with an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi, resulting in nine deaths and 42 injuries, days before these encounters.
