Thousands of mourners gathered today in Marwah to attend the funeral prayers (Janaza) for the eight members of a single family who tragically lost their lives in a road accident at Daksum. The accident, which occurred yesterday on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road, claimed the lives of eight family members, including five children, casting a pall of mourning over the entire Marwah area, The Chenab Times reported on Saturday.
The funeral was held in the family’s native village of Marwah, where local residents paid their respects with tearful eyes. The overwhelming attendance at the Janaza highlighted the deep sense of loss felt by the community. Expressions of grief and sorrow have been pouring in from across the region as news of the tragedy spread.
The victims of the accident were traveling in a Maruti Swift car when they met with the fatal crash. The deceased have been identified as Imtiyaz Rather (45), son of Ghulam Rasool Rather; Afroza Begum (40), wife of Imtiyaz Rather; Reshma (40), wife of Majid Ahmad; Areeba Imtiyaz (12), daughter of Imtiyaz Rather; Aniya Jan (10), daughter of Imtiyaz Rather; Abaan Imtiyaz (6), son of Imtiyaz Rather; Musaib Majid (16), son of Majid Ahmad; and Mushail Majid (8), son of Majid Ahmad.
The entire Marwah area continues to grieve the loss of these eight lives, with many expressing their condolences and support for the bereaved family during this incredibly difficult time.
