At the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Bollywood stalwarts Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar delighted fans with a surprise announcement that they will soon collaborate on a new film. Ajay, known for his directorial ventures like Runway 34, Bholaa, and Shivaay, revealed that he would be directing the upcoming project, with Akshay in the lead role.
“We were going to announce this later, but yes, we are already working on something together. I am directing the film, and Akshay is acting in it. We will share more details soon,” Ajay said during a conversation at the event. Akshay, who was present alongside him, added with enthusiasm, “I am going to be directed by Mr. Ajay Devgn.”
While the duo refrained from divulging further details, this announcement has already set the stage for heightened anticipation among fans who have long yearned for a more significant collaboration between the two actors. The brief appearance of Akshay’s Sooryavanshi and Ajay’s Singham in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again offered a glimpse of their on-screen camaraderie, leaving audiences eager for more.
Apart from the announcement, the actors also touched upon industry-related issues during the summit. Akshay commented on the high costs of maintaining entourages in Bollywood, revealing that actors often forgo earnings to balance budgets. Ajay echoed similar sentiments and highlighted the lack of unity within the film industry, signaling a need for collaboration beyond creative projects.
Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are already busy with their respective line-ups for 2024 and 2025. Akshay’s upcoming films include Sky Force, Jolly LLB 3, Housefull 5, and Welcome to the Jungle. Meanwhile, Ajay has an impressive roster with films like Son of Sardaar 2, Raid 2, De De Pyaar De 2, and Azaad.
