J-K Police Reshuffle: SDPO Thathri Shaid Nahiem Ahmed Transferred to Manjakote, Tussif Ahmed Takes Over Mendhar

Jammu, January 30 – In a significant reshuffle by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Shaid Nahiem Ahmed, who was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Thathri, has been transferred to SDPO Manjakote. Meanwhile, Tussif Ahmed, previously posted as SDPO Manjakote, has been reassigned as SDPO Mendhar.

This transfer comes after Thathri received its first-ever SDPO in July 2024, following years of public demand for a separate police subdivision, The Chenab Times reported. However, despite the creation of the post, the lack of infrastructure hindered the proper functioning of the SDPO office in Thathri. With Shaid Nahiem Ahmed’s transfer, the position of SDPO Thathri now remains vacant, leaving the residents hopeful for a new appointment and the establishment of a fully functional SDPO office.

Residents Await New SDPO and Functional Office

The people of Thathri had long called for a dedicated SDPO to improve law enforcement and administrative efficiency in the region. When the post was finally created in 2024, it was seen as a major step towards better policing. However, due to the absence of proper infrastructure, the SDPO office could not operate effectively, limiting the impact of the new subdivision.

With Shaid Nahiem Ahmed’s transfer, no new officer has been assigned to Thathri yet, leaving uncertainty about the future of the post. Residents now eagerly await a new SDPO, hoping that this time, the authorities will also focus on developing the necessary infrastructure to ensure smooth functioning of the office.

Key Transfers and Adjustments:

Apart from Thathri, several other changes were made in police postings under Order No. 301 of 2025, including:

• Afroz Hussain – Transferred from SDPO Marwah to CID SB Rajouri.
• Bhupinder Kumar – Moved from SDPO Mendhar to PTWS Jammu.
• Neeraj Kumar – Transferred from HQ Reasi to SDPO Billawar.
• Vikram Singh – Moved from CID SB Rajouri to SDPO North Jammu.
• Farha Nishat – Shifted from Traffic City Jammu to HQ Jammu.

Hope for Stronger Policing in Thathri

With the SDPO post in Thathri now vacant, residents and local leaders urge the administration to appoint a new officer at the earliest and provide the necessary infrastructure to ensure effective policing. A well-equipped SDPO office is expected to address local security concerns, improve crime monitoring, and enhance administrative efficiency in the region.

The recent reshuffle reflects the J&K Police Department’s commitment to optimizing law enforcement across the Union Territory. However, the true success of these changes will be determined by how effectively the authorities address long-standing concerns, such as the proper establishment of the SDPO office in Thathri.
