The Dogri Language Union and Kashmiri Language Union jointly organized a literary and cultural program at the Culture Academy in Jammu on Friday mark International Mother Language Day, focusing on the preservation and promotion of Dogri and Kashmiri languages.
Opposition leader Sunil Kumar Sharma attended the event as the chief guest, marking the first time such a program has been conducted in the two native languages of Jammu and Kashmir’s regions.
Several distinguished guests were present at the event, including Secretary of Culture, Art, and Languages; Joint Director of School Education; Prof. Rattan Lal Talashi; President of Adbi Markaz Kamraz Mohammad Amin Bhat; Ashok Ji from Dogri Language; Prof. Padam; Rita from Dogri Cultural Academy; and BJP State Youth President Arun Ji.
“The initiative is a significant step towards safeguarding our linguistic heritage,” an organizer said.
Dr. Ashu Sharma and Anzer Ali managed stage proceedings, while Sahil Badyal delivered the vote of thanks. The event was part of the Rebhr-e-Zuban scheme, which aims to introduce Dogri and Kashmiri in schools from grades 1 to 10 and appoint subject-specialist teachers.
The program was coordinated by Wasim Ahmed, Roshan Bral, Pervaiz Barket, and Swantantra Mehra, along with other contributors.
