Baramulla, February 28 – The SJS Parents Association Baramulla has strongly condemned what it describes as attempts by certain individuals to create disorder within the organization, which has been working for the welfare of students and the institution for the past three years.
In a statement issued by the association’s president, Adv. Neelofar Masood, the body reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a democratic and inclusive platform for all parents. It expressed concern over efforts by some individuals to undermine the association’s voice due to personal grievances.
“It has come to our notice that a few elements are attempting to weaken the association instead of strengthening its efforts for the collective welfare of students. These individuals have even taken to public platforms to malign the association’s working body with baseless allegations,” the statement read.
The association clarified that it has not raised any funds nor engaged in any business with the school authorities. While acknowledging that members of its managing body may have individual political affiliations, the association asserted that it has remained above political differences in pursuit of student welfare.
The statement further emphasized that no individual has the right to “hijack the platform for personal likes and dislikes,” urging responsible parents to unite for the benefit of their children. It warned that any attempt to create confusion or disrupt the association’s operations would be “strongly dealt with” and that those responsible would bear personal accountability.
Plans for Elections and Expansion
In an effort to ensure transparency and broader representation, the association announced plans to conduct elections at the earliest. A welfare committee has been constituted to assess and recommend the best approach for organizing elections with maximum parental participation.
The committee, led by Dr. Waseem Mir, includes Mr. Nadeem Baig, Mr. Imran Kantroo, Mr. Suhail Ahmad Lone, Adv. Muneer Bhat, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, Mr. Tajamul Moon, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Wani, and Mr. Younis Tantry. The panel has been tasked with submitting a report within a month on how to integrate parents from different areas, including Baramulla, Sopore, Boniyar, Rafiabad, Pattan, Wagoora, and Kreeri, into a unified structure.
The association reassured parents that elections would be conducted in a fair and democratic manner. It called upon all stakeholders to refrain from engaging in “unnecessary gossip” that could create divisions.
“We are united, not divided. We stand for welfare, not destruction. We are confident that the committee will work in the best interest of the parents and students of St. Joseph’s,” the statement concluded.
