Bhaderwah – March 30: A large group of protesters gathered in Bhaderwah to oppose the construction of a road leading to Kailash Kund, citing religious concerns. The demonstrators argue that Kailash Kund, a sacred pilgrimage site associated with Nagraj Vasuki, should remain untouched to preserve its spiritual and environmental sanctity.
Why Are People Protesting?
Kailash Kund, located at an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet, is the final destination of the annual Kailash Yatra, a centuries-old pilgrimage attracting thousands of devotees from Jammu, Doda, Kathua, and Himachal Pradesh. The site holds deep religious significance, and many believe that constructing a road would disturb its sacredness and natural ecosystem.
Speaking to The Chenab Times, one of the protest leaders said:
“Kailash Kund is not just a tourist spot; it is a place of worship. A road will commercialize it and take away its spiritual essence.”
