Doda, April 16 – A 70-year-old woman was found dead in a suspected case of hanging at her home in the Droundi area of Bhalla tehsil in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir’s Chenab Valley on Wednesday, police said.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was discovered by family members hanging from a window inside her residence, according to initial information obtained by The Chenab Times. Authorities were immediately alerted following the discovery.
Police have launched inquest proceedings under relevant legal provisions, and the body has been shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
“The case is under investigation, and we are awaiting the autopsy report to establish the exact circumstances,” a police official familiar with the matter said.
Local law enforcement has registered a case, and further inquiries are ongoing.
Images purportedly showing the woman’s body have circulated widely on social media platforms, raising concerns about privacy and digital ethics. Meanwhile, authorities have not commented on the viral content.
