NIA Takes Over Investigation Into Pahalgam Terror Attack

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians and left many others injured, officials said on Saturday.

According to a statement NIA teams, which have been stationed at the attack site since Wednesday, have intensified efforts to collect evidence. The investigation is being led by senior officers, including an Inspector General (IG), a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and a Superintendent of Police (SP).

Eyewitnesses who survived the assault at Baisaran valley, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir, are being questioned extensively as investigators work to piece together the sequence of events. Entry and exit points are being closely examined to uncover details of the terrorists’ movements and modus operandi.

The teams, supported by forensic and technical experts, are conducting a thorough examination of the area to uncover the conspiracy behind what has been described as one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir in recent years.

Earlier, The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), had claimed responsibility online for the attack but later retracted the statement, citing a cyber breach. The group denied involvement amid mounting international pressure, The Hindu reported.
