KISHTWAR, May 1 (The Chenab Times) – At least nine people were injured, including one critically, when a mini-bus overturned on the road near Malipeth in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, authorities said.
The vehicle, which was travelling from Sarthal to Kishtwar, reportedly lost control and flipped over on the roadside near Malipeth. Contrary to earlier reports, the mini-bus did not plunge into a gorge but overturned on the same road.
Emergency response teams, including police, civil defence, Red Cross volunteers, and local residents, rushed to the scene to assist in the rescue operation. All injured persons were evacuated and transported to District Hospital Kishtwar.
“One critically injured passenger has been referred to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment, while eight others, including two children, are being treated for minor injuries,” a Red Cross official in Kishtwar told The Chenab Times.
Visuals from the site show the vehicle, bearing registration number JK17 3279, lying on its side with visible structural damage.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the mishap.
