Doda, July 1 — In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the transfer and posting of several officers, including Akhtar Hussain Qazi, a distinguished Chenabi officer from the Phagsoo area of Doda district. As per Government Order No. 828-JK(GAD) of 2025, issued on July 1, 2025, Mr. Qazi, previously serving as Deputy Director Information in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, and Nodal Officer for Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) in the Union Territory, has been transferred and posted as Programme Officer, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project, Doda, with immediate effect.
Mr. Qazi, a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer, was recently honoured by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on January 25, 2025, during the 15th National Voters’ Day celebrations held at the Zorawar Auditorium, University of Jammu. The recognition was in appreciation of his exemplary contributions to voter education and awareness initiatives under the SVEEP programme, which significantly boosted voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir. His efforts were lauded as a cornerstone in strengthening democratic participation in the region.

The transfer order also includes the reassignment of two other JKAS officers. Mr. Sukhpal Singh, previously Secretary, J&K Water Resources Regulatory Authority, has been posted as Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu, against an available vacancy. Meanwhile, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, who held the position of Programme Officer, ICDS Project, Doda, has been transferred to serve as Secretary, J&K Water Resources Regulatory Authority.
The government directive, issued by the General Administration Department, has been circulated to key officials, including the Director General of Police, Principal Secretaries, the Chief Electoral Officer, and all Commissioners and Secretaries to the Government, among others, for compliance and information.
