Three CRPF Personnel Killed, 10 Injured in Road Accident in Udhampur’s Basantgarh

Udhampur, August 7 — Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and over 10 others injured after their vehicle skidded off a mountainous road and fell into a deep gorge in the Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday.

According to officials, the vehicle was en route to a remote location when it veered off the road in hilly terrain. Rescue teams responded swiftly to the site, evacuating all injured personnel. Five of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and were shifted to medical facilities for advanced treatment.

Army helicopters were deployed to airlift the critically injured, following a request from Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed concern over the incident on social media platform X, stating that he had spoken with the Deputy Commissioner, who is personally overseeing the situation. He acknowledged the support of local residents who voluntarily joined rescue efforts and assured that all possible assistance was being provided.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is expected to follow.
