Noida, Aug 10 — Gautam Budh Nagar Police have arrested six men from West Bengal for running a fake office under the name International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau in Sector 70, Noida, allegedly to extort money and impersonate law enforcement.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises at BS-136, where the accused had set up police-style insignia, forged ministry certificates, and claimed ties to Interpol, the International Human Rights Commission, and Eurasia Pol. They also maintained a website, www.intlpcrib.in, to solicit donations.
Officials seized forged IDs, ministry documents, cheque books, ATM cards, visiting cards, rubber stamps, signboards, mobile phones, and Rs 42,300 cash.
The accused — Bibhash Chandra Adhikari, his son Araghya Adhikari, Babul Chandra Mandal, Pintu Pal, Samapda Mal, and Ashish Kumar — had been operating for about 10 days. They have been charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act, and the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act.
Police say the group posed as public servants, using law enforcement colors and logos to mislead the public. The investigation is ongoing to trace more victims and accomplices.
